La compagnia Versus è nata a Roma nel 2018 e conta 12 persone, che lavorano costantemente su progetti di ogni genere, dal teatro fisico a quello di testo. L’esigenza che ha portato questo gruppo a crescere parte dalla convinzione che il teatro sia condivisione e ricerca. L’idea della compagnia è quello di coinvolgere tramite le alterità delle proposte un pubblico nuovo. L’ambizione è quella di lasciarsi contaminare da nuove idee e proposte e approfondire lo studio di temi sociali. Versus non ha in sé una vera e propria forma cristallizzata o stile, ma tenta di comunicare tramite gli attori una verità scenica attraverso qualsiasi mezzo espressivo. Maddale’ è il testo su cui la compagnia si è fondata, racconta una storia di un realismo disarmante, che tenta di rovesciare la percezione della borgata, umanizzandola e non incriminandola, descrivendo una gabbia fatta di pareti di cemento armato, di barriere mentali e differenze sociali. 

Versus è formata da un gruppo di attori e autori teatrali che, al termine di un comune percorso accademico, prendono coscienza del proprio potenziale come compagnia. Le differenze e le alterità che caratterizzano il gruppo, rendono il lavoro un progetto di ampio respiro, capace di trasformarsi e di adattarsi, di cambiare, variare temi e protagonisti, mettendo in scena testi o performance di ogni genere e tipo, mantenendo sempre un punto fermo: il sentimento e la verità di chi sta in scena.

The collective Versus was founded in Rome in 2018 and counts 12 people who constantly work on any type of project, from  physical to text theatre. The idea that theatre is an opportunity to share experiences and do research helped this group to grow. The company wants to involve a new public suggesting new kinds of performances. Its aim is to try out new ideas, to adopt new suggestions and to better analyze many social topics. The collective Versus doesn’t really have a defined scheme or style, it just tries to tell the whole truth onstage, through the actors and any other mean of expression. Maddale’ is the text which the company was based on. It tells a grimly realistic story that tries to change the way people perceive suburbs, humanizing them and not incriminating them, describing a suffocating cage made out of reinforced concrete walls, mental barriers and social differences.

Versus consists of a group of theatrical actors and authors who became aware of their potential as a company at the end of the same academic career. Between the members of the group there are many differences, that’s why its projects are wide-ranging, variable and adaptable to different situations,  they can deal with many kinds of topics and have different characters. The collective stages performances of any genre and type, but the intense emotion and the honesty of the performers characterize each one of their works.
